ChezaCheza means 'playful' in Swahili, and we are experts in Social-Emotional Learning through dance. We work in communities and schools across Nairobi where children experience the joy of dancing in a safe space while building positive behaviour and essential social and emotional skills. When learners are happy, their overall learning experience improves leading to better retention, motivation, and cognitive abilities.
What we do
ChezaCheza conducts our dance classes using a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) framework. Our dance curriculum incorporates mindfulness, breathing, and movement-based exercises based on dance therapy to provide an innovative learning framework. As a result, after a ChezaCheza class, students feel energized, relaxed, and motivated!
SEL is important for helping students understand and manage their emotions, empathise with others, establish healthy relationships, set positive goals, and make responsible decisions. Students who attend SEL programs at school are more likely to:
